Information
It has not been logistically possible to maintain the original indexes for the Main/Maine/Mayne pages. All surnames are included on the Surname index page. Clicking on a surname will open an index page which lists persons who have that surname. The surname will be within the screen area, at the top if the page is long enough. Clicking on a letter from the menu at the left will open the same page but at the top. A surname can then be chosen from the list at the top of the page, or you can scroll down the page. Where there are a large number of people with the surname they may be on a seperate Index page. This is available from the letter Index page or the surname Index page.
Where a person has more than one surname (e.g. maiden name and née name) they may be listed under both. Persons with double surnames (e.g. Smith-Jones) are listed under two indexes. In the example, S and J.
The site is essentially two sites, joined where the primary families (Maine and Baker) are linked. Pages common to both sites (e.g. indexes) have been added.
